August OMG

OMG 2018 blog logo August

Hi Everyone and Welcome to My Blog,

August is shaping up to be another busy month.  I’m excited that for the next two weekends we are having our Louisiana Shop Hop.  Last year I had a fun time seeing each shop sponsored quilts.  You can take a look at the quilts here.  This year the chosen fabrics are the Grunge collection.   I’m having a hard time choosing which quilt I’ll do.  You can also see if you go the the Facebook page link above that there are some wonderful goody bags at each shop.  Also each shop is raffling a gift basket each work $250.  The shop hop is sponsoring a grand prize of a Tailormade Cutting Table as well as a bunch of gift cards and fat quarter bundles.  Fun! Fun! Fun!

I’m going to keep my goals for August simple since I’m losing two sew Saturdays.  However, there are 3 of them.

I need to catch up with my local quilt club BOM.  I didn’t get the July block done and now I have the August one also.  I’ll do both of these.

Our quilt club is also hosting a block swap.  These will be swapped in October so        I want to get a head start.  This is my block and my color is navy blue.

Add the corner stones done and the sides attached to the Nostalgia Twist quilt.

Maybe all of this may not be as simple as I suppose, but let’s see if I can get it done.

The linky parties I usually participate in can be found by clicking this link.  Please visit them and see what others are up to leave some comments and encouragement.  There are many bloggers out there who share their tips, projects, and tutorials to inspire us.

That’s all for now.  Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Hi Cherie! Oh, I just love the Grunge line, especially the polka dotted ones. I am really looking forward to seeing what your cornerstones will be for that beauty of a quilt. Have fun hopping! Happy Monday! ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne, The corner stones are in production now.  I’ll probably show in the next week or so.  It’s time I take a small break from the paper piecing after that.  I started the triangles quilt using the leader/ender technique.  Two birds with one stone.  Hopefully I’ll make some progress on that.   Best Regards,Cherie BurtonCherie’s Quilting Journey

  2. You’ve sure got a lot going on and all prettier than the one before! Happy to hear that there is a Shop Hop in your area. We have a reunion coming up in 2019 down by New Orleans so I’ll have to check out quilt stores in the area and on our drive there & back from St. Louis area.

    1. Hi Sue, There is a great shop in New Orleans.  It’s called Mes Amis Quilt Shop.  It is right next to Lake Pontchartrain.  There’s a road that rides along the lake with a few benches you can stop and take a look. If your interested, I can scan my shop passport.  It has 9 shops with their addresses on it on a map.  I’m sure there are many more shops that didn’t participate, but you might find a couple on your route.    Best Regards,Cherie BurtonCherie’s Quilting Journey

    1. Thanks Jennifer,  It is fun to meet other quilters during these.  The goals aren’t too ambitious but I need an easier pace this month.    Best Regards,Cherie BurtonCherie’s Quilting Journey

    1. Hi Susan,   My goals are short and sweet.  Something to catch up on, something to continue, and something new.  None are very difficult.   Best Regards,Cherie BurtonCherie’s Quilting Journey

    1. Hi Dione, I have an idea for the corner stones I hope they look good.  I will post about it once I finally get it done.  I have to step away for a minute and take a small break.  I’m needing something different for a little bit.   Best Regards,Cherie BurtonCherie’s Quilting Journey
