Stained Glass Quilt Top Finished

Hi Everyone,

Over the weekend I was able to finish the stained glass quilt top.  I am pleased as punch on the result.

I’ve some left over yardage of the ombre fabric and intend to piece the left overs for the backing.  I do love that fabric.  I believe it will be nice to see the change in color across the whole width of fabric.  The backing may be a pretty as the front.

I’ve begun contemplating the quilting.  I’ve taken it easy on my last 2 quilts with just some straight line quilting.  This time I want to spend a little more time on it.  My first thought is to do the straight lines focusing on the blocks and not across the entire quilt.  However, I tried that with my walking foot awhile back and when I would turn the corners even with the needle down, the quilt would shift and I’d get a wonky stitch.  While at the quilt festival in Houston, I picked up a ruler foot and a couple of rulers.  One was a straight one so maybe I can try that.  Maybe I could also try not to be so critical of myself.  We will see.

Goal for this week:

  1.  Continue on my disappearing hour-glass blocks.  I haven’t blogged on this yet but    will soon.  I’m doing another Jenny Doan Tutorial.
  2. Work on the backing for my Stained Glass Quilt.
  3. Start my Regatta Qu.
  4. Practice some quilting designs for Stained Glass Quilt.

This should keep me pretty busy this week.

The linky parties I usually participate in can be found by clicking this link.  Please visit them and see what others are up to.  There are many bloggers out there who share their tips, projects, and tutorials to help us through ours.

That’s all for now.  Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Hi Cherie,
This really turned out great! You have to be so please with it. I love all the bright colors and how realistic it looks. I can see why you would want to do straight lines – it is really lineal. I can’t wait to see what you decide to do! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Those ombre fabrics are so beautiful, and perfect for the stained glass window look. Love it! Please don’t be so hard on yourself with your quilting. Remember, when you are quilting your nose is maybe a foot away from the quilt top. After it’s finished, no one will be that close to it. Even if they are, they’ll be looking at the gorgeous colors and not the individual stitches. It’s a stunning quilt. Thanks for linking to MCM!
