Nearly Finished

Hi Everyone,

I’ve had some time with my For the Love of Geese quilt and am nearly finished.  I’ve got it quilted and now I’m on the binding.  My holder was busy so I was only able to snap a picture on the table.  Once it is done,  I’ll take a picture of the whole thing.

I’ve been working on the binding while sitting and watching television in the evenings, but usually by the time I get to go sit I’m already tired from the day and want to go straight to bed.  I will probably finish it up this weekend while I binge watch something.

Binding

I’ve had a pretty good time with this quilt using the foundation piecing method.  I was a little disappointed when I sewed all the wedges together, but now that it’s quilted, it doesn’t seem to bother me so much.  I’m glad I didn’t put it in the corner never to be seen again.  You can see that I’ve pieced the back with all the leftover fabric.  I had purchased some extra thinking that I may make some mistakes, but it went smoothly.  I’d like to do more paper piecing, but I think next time it won’t be in a star form.  I had my troubles where it all met in the middle and shifted a bit.  I think I could manage better if it wouldn’t have had that bulk in the center.

  4. Hey Cherie! This is one amazing quilt! It’s beautiful! I love geese and paper piecing so much and have been eyeing this pattern and the others from For The Love of Geese! I totally understand about the bulk you get when all the pieces come together to make a lovely point! They are tricky and it seems impossible to avoid a bump underneath! As they say “it will get lost in the quilting”!!!! I love your pieced back too – my favorite kind! Well done!!

    1. Hi Cathy, Thanks! Give the pattern a try. It was very easy until I got to the end. And your right about the quilting. It took some of the attention from the center.   7. Hey, this turned out nice! Love that pieced backing. It’s so tempting to leave off from projects that disappoint us, but I’m learning that it’s best 99.9% of the time to forge through, as it almost always surprises me and comes out good in the end. Or finding a fix results in something that’s actually better than what I would have had. Isn’t it funny how those things happen?
